Year 2 Explore Everyday Materials

Year 2 have been learning all about everyday materials. So far, we have explored what a material is; what properties they have (hard/soft/smooth/shiny); experimenting with how a solid object can change shape by twisting, stretching, bending or squashing.

Today we looked at different products and what materials they were made from. We discussed why a bike was made from metal and not glass, and the children thought glass was a terrible idea as if you fell off, it would break straight away and could hurt you. What great scientists we have!
