Year 4 have had a wonderful time learning about the Christmas story at ‘Journey to the Stable’ at the United Church in Dorchester.
Our preschool children had a wonderful time visiting the woods for outdoor learning. The children explored the crunchy autumn leaves, looked for different colours in nature, and listened to the sounds of the forest.
Year 2 have been learning all about everyday materials. So far, we have explored what a material is; what properties they have (hard/soft/smooth/shiny); experimenting with how a solid object can change shape by twisting, stretching, bending or squashing.
The strong winds kept Year 4 inside today during our outdoor learning session. We made carbon dioxide in a sealed bag, mixing sodium bicarbonate and vinegar together. It was fun watching the bag expand!
Wow! We are blown away with today's efforts for Crazy Christmas Hair Day!! The children have had a great day ![]()

Thank so much for your support in making this such a successful event.
Year One have been exploring measurement in maths this week. We first used cubes to find the length/height of different objects.
There are so many fantastic prizes to be won in The Pantry raffle- here are juat a few! Thank you to all those who have donated towards this. If you haven't done so already, remember to get your raffle tickets and support this vital provision at Manor Park.
Chestnut Class in Year 3 enjoyed making see saws and thinking about the forces at play during outdoor learning.
Beech Class in Year 4 have started their next block subject - SCIENCE: Changes in state
Today, we compared the different states: solids, liquids and gases.
The children practised being particles, moving between each state. They became one big solid, all tightly packed together, and only changed shape if a force was applied. They became a liquid by moving around more freely within the 'blue cup'. Finally, they became a gas by spreading out across the whole room.
Afterwards, we discussed many different objects and grouped them into each state. Good job, scientists! 👨🔬👩🔬
Children in year 4 have been discovering Oobleck; a mixture of cornflour and water that acts like a liquid and a solid. It’s been great fun!
